Team GB squad announcement for the European Games

Team GB have announced the athletes selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2019 European Games next month.

Today’s announcement sees 93 athletes confirmed from 10 sports with eight archers expected to be named in due course.
Minsk 2019 is the second iteration of the European Games and will be held in the Belarussian capital from 21st – 30th June, with the Opening Ceremony on Friday 21st June.

Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete across 10 days in 200 different medal events with the Opening and Closing Ceremony being held in the Dinamo National Olympic Stadium.

Minsk 2019 represents the last senior multi-sport event prior to next summer’s Olympic Games and will provide invaluable experience for the British athletes hoping to travel to Tokyo.

There is a strong Scottish contingient in the Cycling team with Jack Carlin leading the way in the Men's Sprint and Jenny Holl included in the Women's Track Edurance team. Joining them out of the Velodrome will be another Scottish Cycling Performance programme graduate, Rhona Callander who will take part in the Women's Road and TT events in Minsk.

With two World Championships medals, and a medal in both the Commonwealth Games and the European Track Championships, Jack will be looking to add to his haul of medals on the world stage this year in Belarus.

Winning abroad isn't something new for GBCT Senior Academy rider, Rhona Callander. She'll be looking to take her performance to the next level as she heads off with the team.
