UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships - Apeldoorn
The Para Track World Championships took place over the weekend in the Netherlands. Amongst the strong squad sent by GBCT were the experienced Neil Fachie, who was looking to retain his Rainbow Jersey along with his pilot, Matt Rotherham. Also making the trip for his debut World Championships was Fin Graham.
Neil and Matt bring home the medals!
An all British affair at the top of the Men's Tandem events with Neil taking turns to win the Gold with team mate James Ball. James, piloted by Peter Mitchell, toook the first Gold in the Kilo beating the Scot by about a tenth of a second. Both pairs were well clear of the pack.
Neil and Matt returned the favour in the Tandem Sprint in bizzare circumstances. Clear of James and Peter as they rounded the final bend, the tandem came down depositing both riders onto the woodwork. The officials took the view that the race was won and awarded Neil and Matt the Gold and the Rainbow Jersey.

An incredible turn of events and we are struggling to remember another time that this has happened quite like that.
Excellent debutant, Fin shows his quality versus the best in the world!
Fin gave an excellent account of himself at his first Track World Championships, though missing out on the medals on this occasion, he showed that he can mix it with the best of them. He finished 6th in the Scratch, 5th in the Kilo and 4th in the IP.

SXC Round 1 - Cathkin Braes
It was a good event for the Team Scotland mountain bikers with both Grant Ferguson and Isla Short winning the Elite races.
Charlie Aldridge took the Junior Men's victory with Anna McGorum winning the Junior Female's race.
Special Olympics World Games - Abu Dhabi 2019
The World Games for the Special Olympics are currently underway in Abu Dhabi and the Scottish cyclists have turned up and are performing. So far Ruairidh Brown has managed a fifth place in the 15K Road Race in the M02 category and Alistair Graham has won a brilliant Gold in the 5K Time Trial in the M03 category. Cancelled Events
The crazy winter weather played a big part in how much cycling we got to do over the weekend. Several events had to be called off due to the snow including: The Bella Crit, the Gifford Road Race among others.
