Junior Road Opportunities
2018 Screentek International North West Junior Tour (junior girls):
Saturday August 25th - Monday 27th
2018 SD Sealants Junior Tour of Wales (junior boys)
Friday August 24th – Monday 27th
Scottish Cycling would like to further the development of junior bike racers through selecting and taking teams to the 2018 North West Junior Tour and the 2018 Junior Tour of Wales in August. Part of the rider development process for those selected will be a requirement to attend a junior road training camp in Scotland on Wednesday August 8th & Thursday August 9th.
Junior riders seeking selection to represent a Scottish Cycling Development Team for either of these races, should send an email to Lynsey Hamilton – lynsey.hamilton@scottishcycling.org.uk, by Tuesday July 10th, with a CV of their ten best 2018 race results (from any discipline) together with a written paragraph covering their cycling aims and ambitions for the rest of 2018 and 2019.
Selections will be made based on a number of factors that will ensure selected riders gain a positive experience, including:
- Race results establishing competitiveness at British national level events (including the riders primary discipline if not road)
- Race performances within Scotland due to limited ability to enter national level competition
- Limited time/experience in the sport and therefore headroom to progress, within 1 to 2 years, to (1) above (please include details in your written paragraph)
- Your written paragraph establishing your cycling aims and ambitions till end 2019
Team selections will be made by a Scottish Cycling panel during the week of July 16th. Successful riders will be notified by Thursday July 19th.
Please note final entries into both events will based on the organisers selections, following their published closing dates.
