News in Brief: Team Scotland, Circuit Championships and Upcoming Events

Another week, another host of Scots performing at a high level across the world!

This week the Youth Commonwealth Games start in the Bahamas – Rhona Callander, Dylan Hughes and Stephen Dent have all made the journey to compete in the road cycling events. Keep up to date with results and use the hashtag #TeamScot2017 to show your support.

Tomorrow the 2017 HSBC UK National Circuit Championships take place in Sheffield with not one but NINE Scots taking to the start line. Keep an eye out here for reigning champion Eileen Roe (Team WNT), strong contender Katie Archibald (Team WNT) and Angus Claxton (100% ME), Jack Pullar (BIKE Channel-Canyon), Tom Chandler (Metaltek-KUOTA), Grant Martin (Raleigh GAC), Fraser Martin (Raleigh GAC), David Lines (Wheelbase Altura) and Evan Oliphant (Wheelbase Altura) .

This week Scots Joe Nally, Jenny Holl, Lewis Stewart, Alistair Fielding, Mark Stewart and Jack Carlin will also be competing for Great Britain at the 2017 UEC Junior/Under 23 European Track Championships in Portugal – keep an eye out for results here.

Lewis Stewart and Alistair Fielding were also this week selected for the 2017 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships which take place in Italy for 23-27th August.

There were two Scots competing at the European BMX Championships in Bordeaux at the weekend – Cameron Reid from the Cumbernauld Centurions and Harrison Bell of the Western Titans. Well done to both of them. The results for the competition can be found here.

There were also some pretty good results for our Juniors in the British National Junior Road Race Championships in Wallingford at the weekend, with Rhona Callander (Team Jadan-Weldtite) and Sean Flynn (Edinburgh RC) both taking 5th place in their respective races.

Sean Balfour also took a stunning win in a road race in Tréflez in France. The 19 year old Scot has been riding with French team Côtes d'Armor - Marie Morin.

There are still lots of opportunites to take part in events across Scotland, make sure to get your entries into upcoming Scottish National Championships including the Scottish National 50 mile TT, Scottish National Team Time Trial, Scottish National Youth TT and the Scottish National Road Race.
