Podium spots for Scots at the HSBC UK National Cross Country Series Round 1

At the weekend a number of Scots travelled to Pembrey Country Park in Wales for the first round of the HSBC UK National Cross Country Series and definitely put a Scottish stamp on the results!

Scottish Cycling performance development rider Isla Short (OMX Pro Team) took 2nd place in the Elite Female race, followed by Velocity 44 RT’s Jane Barr in third. Evie Richards (100% ME) just pipped Isla to 1st place. Ella Conolly (100% ME) took up 4th position.

Grant Ferguson (CST American Eagle) was the Scot on the podium in the Elite Men’s race, taking up 3rd position behind Phillip Pearce (BW Cycling) and Jason Boutell (KTM Impsport RT.)

British Cycling Junior Academy rider Sean Flynn (Edinburgh RC) took 3rd in the Junior Male category.

In the Youth Male category Charlie Aldridge (Stirling Bike Club) took the top position, with Edinburgh RC’s Anna Flynn taking 2nd in the Youth Female category.

In the Juvenile races Corran Carrick-Anderson took 2nd in the Male and Elena McGorum 3rd in the Female – both doing Peebles CC proud.

Super Vet Gregor Grant made the long journey from Moray Firth Cycling Club to take 3rd in his category.
