The 2016 Scottish Cycling Women's Road Race Series supported by Dales Cycles consisted of 5 women only races across Scotland throughout the season.

The aim was not only to give women an opportunity to race, but to raise the profile of women’s racing and encouraging more women to participate in road races throughout Scotland.

66 women took part in the series, ranging from novices to Commonwealth Games riders.

The series kicked off at Munlochy on the 14th May with a race covering 5 laps of a rolling 8.6 mile circuit hosted by Moray Firth CC.  Flora Gillies (Team 22) sprinted to take the win. 

Edinburgh RC promoted round 2 “The Tour de Gladhouse” – a hilly 55 mile race on the 5th June in hot sunny weather.  Scottish Champion, Eileen Roe (Lares-Waowdeals Women Cycling Team) won from Israeli Olympic team rider Shani Bloch-Davidov (Pedal Power RT

40 women took to the start line for round 3 – the Sharon Argue Memorial Race, near Falkirk.  The event consisted of a 5 mile TT followed by a 30 mile road race.  Scottish 10 mile TT champion Neah Evans (Glasgow Wheelers) won the TT and Genevieve Whitson (Isorex Cycling Team) won the road race.  The overall win went to Neah Evans.

Deeside Thistle CC organised round 4 - the Feew-side Women’s Road Race a 49 mile race near Banchory on the 29th August incorporating the Scottish Junior Women’s Road Race Championships.  Stephanie Mottram (Cliff Pratt Racing) won the race with the junior title going to Sarah Bradford (Team Jadan-Weldtite).

The series finished off with the Sally Anne Low Memorial Race, hosted by Cairngorm CC on the 11th September.   Genevieve Whitson won the race and the series overall.   Amanda Tweedie (Velocity 44 Stirling) finished 2nd overall with Natalie Munro (Moray Firth CC) in 3rd.
