Seven Scottish riders are set to take on their biggest challenge yet as they compete as Scotland Burness Paull in the Revolution track cycling competition.

The team who competed in the leading series last year, supported by Scottish Cycling, and sponsored by legal firm Burness Paull, are set to return to the track this weekend (17th September) in Manchester.

The new format for the series means that Scotland Burness Paull will be up against pro teams such as JLT Condor, Team Wiggins and Maloja Pushbikers to qualify for the final three rounds; the Champions League.

The Champions League will consist of five qualifiers and seven World Tour teams such as Team Sky, BMC Racing Team and Etixx - Quick-Step – all who appeared in the top ten winners at the Tour de France this year.

Riders Angus Claxton, Andy Brown and Jonathan Mitchell will compete at senior level, whereas Lusia Steele, Eve Martin, Jack Cruden and Alfie George are set to take on the HOY Future Stars competition.

Last year Scotland Burness Paull rider Lewis Stewart won the boys HOY Future Stars competition – he is now part of the British Cycling Junior Academy programme.

Graeme Bradshaw, Director, Burness Paull:

“Everyone at Burness Paull is delighted to sponsor the Scotland Revolution Team for the second year. Following success at the Olympics and Paralympics, this is an exciting time for cycling in Scotland.

"Being proud of our Scottish heritage while competing on a global stage is something that we identify with, and I know everyone at the firm will be cheering on Scotland Burness Paull as the cyclists make their way through the competition and continue throughout their careers. We wish them all the best of luck.

As the sport’s governing body, Scottish Cycling is going from strength to strength and we look forward to continuing to partner with them in the future, as well as continuing to act as their Official Legal Advisor.”

Gary Coltman, Scottish Cycling Head of Performance says:

“The Revolution series continues to provide great opportunities for Scots to race and the new format has really taken it up a level this year. I am pleased that we have a strong Scotland Burness Paull team competing in the series again this year – those who were part of the team last year have been working hard to improve their skills and strength. Our HOY Future Stars are also going to gain some fantastic experience by being part of it and racing alongside the elite.”

The second round of the series is in Glasgow on 8th October. If you want to come along and watch any of the Revolution Series rounds, get your tickets now.
