Do you want to win a gold medal like Katie Archibald and Callum Skinner in the velodrome? Or maybe you want to be shredding up the mountain bikes tracks across the world with Grant Ferguson and the rest of the elite?

Let Olympic fever take hold and #GiveItAGo – you don’t know your own talent until you try, and Scottish Cycling can point you in the right direction.

Scottish Cycling is working with Glasgow Life to offer free track sessions in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome – on Wednesday 24thAugust, Wednesday 31st August and Wednesday 7th September for 12 – 18 year olds.

The sessions will be coached by national squad coach David Daniell and are suitable for anyone who has the enthusiasm to give it a go.

However, it doesn’t stop there – Scottish Cycling regularly offer cluster sessions for youth track riders to feed into the Glasgow Life accreditation levels 1 – 4.

Then when you feel confident enough, Scottish Cycling National Track League runs from September to April on a Wednesday evening in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome – come along, young and old.

If the velodrome in Glasgow doesn’t take your fancy, or is just too far away, then check out closed road facilities in Aberdeen, Caird Park outdoor track in Dundee or maybe nip across the Meadowbank Velodrome in Edinburgh where both Katie and Callum got their first taste of the track.

Contact your local Regional Development Officer or use our Club Finder tool to find out what is in your local area and get involved.

If the slick tyres don’t do it for you, then get yourself outdoors in the mud. Mountain Biking could be for you!

Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS) have an excellent trail finder called ‘Where to ride’ so you can easily find out where the closest tracks are to you.

You can also find out where you can hire a bike if you don’t have one, and also a list of coaches and leaders if you don’t want to go it alone.

There are also lots of accessible races for beginners; there are regional youth series in the East, West and North. These are the best way to meet new people, try out some racing and get involved.

If you are an adult looking to get involved, check out the Scottish Cross Country Association (SXC) – they offer two lap taster races which are a great introduction to the sport.

The SXC are also putting on women’s coaching sessions with Scottish Cycling’s Women on 2Wheels programme. There are two left this year with more to follow in 2017.

So what are you waiting for? Grab a helmet, a bike, and a large dose of enthusiasm! #GiveItAGo
