Scottish Cycling and The Adventure Cycling Syndicate present, as part of the Women on 2Wheels programme, the first in a series of six talks to be held across the country to inspire women to have adventures on bikes.

The talks would be of interest to anyone who wants to learn more about how to travel self-supported off road by mountain bike no matter skill, experience or fitness levels.

The first of these talks will take place at Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore on 19th August 2016 at 20:00.  The talks are free.

Join Harriet Pike and Lee Craigie to hear all about their recent bike-packing adventures; Lee on the Highland Trail 550 and Harriet in unchartered territory in Kyrgstan.

The Adventure Syndicate’s aim is to inspire, encourage and enable Women to have adventures by bike. They are a collective of extraordinary cyclists who happen to be women and who aim to challenge what others think they are capable of.

They consist of a group of women who are champions, record-holders, award-winners, athletes, adventurers and explorers. They are passionate about sharing their adventures with other people and inspiring them to set out on their own.

Lee Craigie said:

“We at the Adventure syndicate are delighted to be working with DMBinS within the Women on 2Wheels programme.  It falls in line with our whole ethos. We set out to inspire women but inspiration is only the first step. What sets The Adventure Syndicate apart is our commitment to encourage and enable women – and everyone else – to identify their ambitions, overcome the obstacles that stand in their way, and make the most of their talent and potential.  We are all capable of so much more than we think we are.”

Graeme McLean, Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS) said:

“We are excited to be working with The Adventure Syndicate to present these talks as part of our innovative new programme to encourage more women and girls into the sport.  Despite year upon year increases in women participating in events , Scottish Cycling would like to keep the momentum on increasing participation in cycling and mountain biking from women and girls.

We have created this 3 year plan to engage, support, mentor and train female coaches, leaders and role models whilst simultaneously providing additional opportunities to increase participation.”
