Scottish Cycling is delighted to announce that the Scottish National Junior Women’s Road Race Championships will take place on 27th August starting from the Knockburn Loch and Outdoor Centre in Aberdeenshire.

The championships will take place as part of the Feew-side Women’s Road Race, one of the rounds of the Sottish Women’s Road Race Series, supported by Dales.

The race, organised by Tim Mackley of Deeside Thistle CC, takes in laps of the Feugh valley circuit, before climbing out over the challenging hills of Shooting Greens and Corsedardar.

Tim is keen to encourage as many women to get on their bikes as possible:

“The Feew-side circuit is a great, but challenging, course and I hope to see as many women as possible entering to give it a go. We listened to rider feedback from previous years and have extended the race slightly which should make for an even more exciting race!

I am delighted that the Junior Women’s Road Race Championships is going to be incorporated in to the already popular Women’s Road Race Series – there are a growing number of women who are taking up racing and we’re pleased to deliver an opportunity for them to do so in Scotland.”

Craig Burn, Chief Executive of Scottish Cycling said:

“We are thrilled that Tim Mackley and Deeside Thistle CC are working to host such an important event in the women’s racing calendar – between the Women’s Series and the Junior Women’s Road Race Championships, we hope to see lots of riders taking to the start line.

Scottish Cycling work to promote women’s cycling, coaching and volunteering and events like the Feew-side Women’s, provide a great platform to support this development and help to ensure the growth and equality of cycling in Scotland.”
