Saturday (14th May) will see the return of the Scottish Cycling Women’s Road Race Series supported by Dales – with round 1 kicking off in Munlochy.

The road race which takes in the stunning views around the Black Isle in the Highlands, is in its third year and was the first ever women’s only road race in the North of Scotland.

The first of the five rounds in the series is being run by the Moray Firth Cycling Club, using Munlochy village hall as race HQ.

The route includes  5 and bit laps of a challenging and reasonably hilly 8.6 mile course, with 2 separate laps (laps 2 & 4) given over to QOM prizes during the race, keeping the racers engaged and fighting right the way to the finish.

Lat year Deeside Thistles Cycling Club's Ashleigh Fraser took the National Series title.

However this year, racing for Fusion Race Team, Asheigh will unfortunately be sitting the first round out due to injury - leaving the top spot undefended.

Only 10 minutes from Inverness town Centre over the stunning Kessock Bridge, this race is easily accessible for spectators and the QOM and race finish, both near the Munlochy Animal Rescue Centre, are at the same location so there’s plenty of action to watch!
