The Scottish National 10 mile Time Trial Championships are coming to Monifieth, Dundee this weekend (Sunday 8th May) and will see over 160 riders taking to the start line.

Current reigning champions are Iain Grant of Fullarton Wheelers and triple European Champion Katie Archibald, who was cycling for Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International at the time.

However, neither champion will be riding to defend their titles this year.

The event, run by Dundee Thistle Cycling Club, will be also be the first event on the calendar to award medals to the junior category in time trial.

The medals in time trial have always gone to men and women, but with the increasing number of juniors taking part, Scottish Cycling have decided to take the opportunity to include another medal category into the championships.

Craig Burn, Chief Executive said:

Scottish Cycling works with clubs across Scotland to help develop and grow the sport. Youth development is incredibly important at grassroots level and therefore it is important to be able to be able to award those youths when they move into junior level. Time Trial racing is popular within the cycling community in Scotland and we want to encourage younger riders to get involved in the discipline.”
