Scotland Burness Paull HOY Future Star leading series

Scotland Burness Paull rider Lewis Stewart maintained the leader’s jersey in the HOY Future Stars competition at round 5 of the Revolution Series on Saturday 2nd January.

Seven Scotland Burness Paull riders were competing at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester alongside the likes of Mark Cavendish and Laura Trott in front of a packed of audience as part of the Elite Championship series.

Lewis, 16, has proven to be a consistently strong rider this year and is leading the series with 251 points and with only one round to go in the 2015/2016 series he is feeling confident:

“I have never led the table before and never ever thought I would. I am in my second year of the HOY Future Stars series and have really enjoyed it; you are racing alongside the pros so it makes you feel like a professional racer! It is good fun; I have got a pretty decent lead.”

The four riders from Scotland competing in the HOY Future Stars competition at the Revolution Series as part of Scotland Burness Paull have kept the team in 2nd place on the overall standing, ahead of Team Wiggins.

Jenny Holl, 16, climbed up the girl’s rankings from 6th to 4th at round 5, and Rhona Callander, 16, managed to maintain her 2nd place.

The elite riders didn’t let the Scotland Burness Paull side down either, with the team coming 6th in the elite rankings on the night. Up against some of the top professional riders in the country and Olympic hopefuls aiming for Rio 2016.

Mark Stewart took 2nd place in the points race and 5th in the elimination race.

The final round in the series takes place on 23 Jan also at Manchester.

“The Revolution series continues to provide some great opportunities for Scot’s to race at the highest level, and I am pleased that we have a strong Scotland Burness Paull team competing in the series.
