This weekend sees the return of CX racing to North East Scotland, with Deeside Thistle CC hosting second round of the Raleigh SCX Series at Knockburn Loch. The course, situated in a beautiful lochside setting near Banchory, promises exciting racing for all 345 riders signed up on Sunday.

There are strong fields throughout all 6 races, and it will be interesting to see who can carry their early season speed from the drier, warmer races earlier in the season. Construction work, new tarmac, and a new grass section means that previous courses at the venue will be tweaked slightly. Everybody’s favourite singletrack through the trees is retained though, while a new descent from the top of the steep climb from the loch could get interesting if it cuts up.

Racing starts at 09:45 with the U8’s race, and finishes around 15:00 with the Senior Open. There's plenty parking for riders and spectators in the new parking area, so come along, give it some cowbell and enjoy the fast, muddy racing that Knockburn offers…
