Sportscotland, who work very closely with Scottish Cycling, is now regarding subsidys for Level 3 coaching awards.

This will mean that coaches who wish to progress on to level 3 can be considered for some funding – this is a decision based around the need and impact of an individual being trained to this level.

Scottish Cycling is very excited about this opportunity to develop coaches as the Level 3 qualification is our highest coaching certification and is for coaches who want to have the ability and knowledge to plan, deliver and evaluate detailed periodised training programmes for individual riders within a specific discipline.

Craig McCulloch, Education and Training Officer for Scottish Cycling says:

“We are delighted that sportscotland has made such a commitment to support aspiring performance coaches.  The investment by sportscotland is crucial in the training and development of coaches in Scotland we at Scottish Cycling very much appreciate of the support we get.  The level of subsidy on offer is literally a game changer as the cost of a level 3 award is a significant barrier for many coaches that want to go down that path.  A larger pool of consistent and quality coaches is central to the growth and development of athletes and the sport as a whole.”
