Scottish Cycling are delighted to announce that we will be supporting the TweedLove cycling festival this year. TweedLove, which takes place from 17th – 31st May in the Tweed Valley in Scotland, is one of the biggest cycling festivals in the UK with more than 40 events happening over the two weeks.

Local enthusiasts and businesses supported by Scottish Cycling affiliated clubs and an army of volunteers have worked hard over the years to establish TweedLove as the premier bike festival in the UK with visitors coming from around the globe.  Last year saw an astonishing 4500 participants enjoy the various events across the festival.

Craig Burn, Scottish Cycling Chief Executive said: “TweedLove has a reputation for being a great family-friendly event hosted in the best of spirits at one of Scotland’s most exciting mountain bike venues. There is truly something for everyone, from toddlers on balance bikes to elite athletes taking part in the Enduro World Series, and everyone in between.”

“We hope Scottish Cycling’s support will enable the organisers to deliver yet another outstanding festival.”

As the governing body for cycling in Scotland, Scottish Cycling, is a membership organisation providing services for individual members, clubs and event organisers and provides much of the framework under which cycle-sport takes place. Scottish Cycling provides training for event officials, coaches and leaders as well support for our talented and inspiring world class cyclists.

At TweedLove you can see the result of many of these core services coming to fruition. Ridelines, a Scottish Cycling Accredited outlet for the Mountain Bike Leadership Awards will be supporting Natural Tweed, by designing and creating the route for this self-guided and self-supported ride.  Help at the event will also be provided by the Tweed Valley Bike patrol again their guides being qualified governing body leaders.

As well as training, local clubs are at the heart of everything that Scottish Cycling does and this is no different at TweedLove. Peebles Cycling Club, a Scottish Cycling Affiliated Club, will be running a Dirt Crit on the 21st May and kid’s skills session on 27th May.

Peebles Cycling Club also have an active youth section and great coaching staff who have helped produce some of our talented cyclists such as Commonwealth Games athlete Grant Ferguson and Katy Winton who will be competing in the Enduro World Series, both have progressed from the youth ranks of Peebles Cycling Club to the GB Cycling Team.
