Race Programme

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch … it’s that time again – the Scottish Cycling National Hill Climb takes place this Sunday,  on Auchenlodment Road, Johnstone.

The course description given by John McKendrick in his book (yes – there is a book detailing hillclimbs in Scotland) – is enough to put me off at least !!   Descriptions such as ‘The lower pain chamber’ and ‘The upper pain chamber’ are enough to reinforce my ‘don’t do hills policy’!!  That and being a hefty lady these days!

This years Hill Climb is one not to be missed. The winner of last years championship, Arthur Doyle (www.dooleys-cycles.co.uk)  is last man off chasing  last years 4th place Ross Cunningham (Glasgow Green CC) this year with newly crowned Olympic Time Trial Champion, Chris Smart from the promoting club.  There are also an impressive list of very fast road men!

In the womens championship last years champion, Julie Erskine,  is missing from the Start list but last years silver medallist Lynsey Curren, who took the Womens Olympic Time Trial title last week is.  Curren is hoping to add to her impressive list of championship podium places this year.

In addition to the Scottish Cycling Hill Climb Championship title, riders from West of Scotland will also be racing for the title of WoSCA hill climb champion.

Medals will be awarded; Men - Gold, Silver and Bronze, Women - Gold, Silver and Bronze.  Team Men (3 riders) - Gold, Team Women (2 riders).

Racing starts at 9:00 and details of the Start and finish can be found in the programme supplied by the promoting club.

Scottish Cycling would like to take this opportunity to thank the event organisers Ricardo and Willie from Paisley Velo for their hard work in making this event happen

Results will be posted onto the BC events page as soon as possible after the event.
