This Saturday the Gifford Road Race returns , once again, and is  the first round of the Scottish National B Road Race Series taking place over a rolling 8 mile circuit centred on the picturesque village of Gifford, East Lothian.

With nine of the top ten finishers from last weekend’s Crit on the Campus in Stirling, including the top three of James McCallum (NFTO), Evan Oliphant (Team Raleigh) and David Lines (Starley Primal Pro Cycling), and eight of the top ten from Gifford 2013, the eight lap, 65 mile A race (E/1/2/3) promises to be an exciting spectacle! A number of placed riders from the 2013 support race (Cat 4 men) have also moved up to the main race, including last year’s winner Alex Kinsley (Edinburgh RC).

The B event, now comprising of 3rd and 4th Category men, and E/1/2/3/4 Women, is held over the same course, with five laps making up 40 miles. Both winners from the two Fourth Category races on Crit on the Campus are on the start list, Calum Grey (Peebles CC) and Jack Richards (Deeside Thistle CC), along with the 2nd and 3rd placed riders from the women’s race, Kayleigh Brogan (Team Thompsons Cycles) and Jane Barr (Starley Primal Pro Cycling).

With 160 total entrants for the two races, Gifford this weekend looks like it will be the centre of the action!
