British Cycling has today confirmed the team selected to represent Great Britain at the forthcoming European Track Championships, taking place from 18 – 20 October in Apeldoorn, Holland.

Fresh from breaking the Team Pursuit world record at the recent National Track Championships, Elinor Barker, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott will be joined by Commonwealth Games hopeful Katie Archibald (City of Edinburgh RC) to form the women’s endurance squad.

Scottish Cycling Performance athlete and British National Madison silver medallist Katie Archibald said:

“I am delighted to be selected to compete in Holland; it’s shown me that anything is possible. It felt fantastic to stand on the British National Track Championship podium in Manchester with the likes of Laura Trott and Dani King and now I am going to the UEC European Track Championships as their team member. I can’t wait to pull on the British jersey and be part of the team.”

Also joining the squad will be Olympic gold medallists Ed Clancy and Steven Burke, along with Jon Dibben, Owain Doull, Sam Harrison and Andy Tennant make up the men’s endurance squad. Current two-time World Champion Becky James, Olympian Jess Varnish and Vicky Williamson will contest the women’s sprint events, whilst Olympic champions Jason Kenny and Phil Hindes will be joined by Matt Crampton and Kian Emadi in the men’s sprint squad.

Next weekend the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome will play host to the Scottish Cycling National Track Championships. Throughout 4 days of competition, 11^th – 13^th October & 27^th October riders will have the chance to compete for the acclaimed Scottish Championship titles. Some of the titles on offer include; Sprint, Team sprint and Keirin, Madison, Pursuits, Points races and Time Trials.

Archibald, originally from Milngavie, will be competing in the Individual Pursuit taking place on Sunday 27^thOctober. Tickets are now on sale for all competition dates.

The Scottish National Track Championships will take place from 11^th – 13^th October & 27^th October at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Glasgow. Tickets: Friday 11^th, £6/ £3 concession; Saturday 12^th, £10/£3 concession; Sunday 13^th, £6/ £3 concession and Sunday 27^th, £10/£3 concession or Season ticket for 11, 12 and 13 October, £15.
