We are now approximately half way through the 2013 South West Scotland race series. With 14 of the seasons 30 events now completed, the points competition is hotting up.
Annan Youth CC riders are leading in the youth E girls (Sarah Hunter), youth E boys (James Moffat), youth D girls (Emily Hunter), youth D boys (Cole Nicholson), youth C boys (Robbie Connaghan) and junior boys (Daniel Walpole). Whilst also showing well this year is the newly formed youth section of the Stewartry Wheelers with Polly henderson leading the youth C girls, Laurie Adamson the youth B girls, Adam Burgoyne the youth B boys, Elidh Thompson the youth A girls and Calum Wrathall the youth A boys.
All of the youth competitions are proving very close and are sure to continue changing leadership as we move from the grass track and MTB into the circuit races.
In the senior sections, Melanie Martin from Stewartry Wheelers leads the ladies competition, whilst Classic RT’s Chris Stewart tops the mens table.
Andrew Taylor from Dumfries CC currently leads the vets table after some strong early season performances in the road races and time trials.
With two MTB Xc’s, six road races, four circuit races, two time trials and a hill climb still to come, everything is still to compete for.
If you’re new to the sport and fancy having a go, we’d love to see you.
