Are you wondering how to maintain your motivation to get out on your bike after the clocks change? Do you like exploring off-road in the hills? Does a race that is a little bit different and as challenging as you want to make it sound like fun?

Then the Open 5 adventure race could be just the thing for you. Taking place on Sunday 4th November in the Pentland Hills just outside Edinburgh, this is 5 hours of mountain biking, running (or trekking) and navigation.

This event is not like a normal race. For a start, you choose whether you want to run or bike first. You can also be flexible about when to begin and where to go. You can even decide whether you want to compete by yourself or with a friend.

At registration you will be given a high quality map showing a number of control locations. When your time starts counting down, you find out how much each control is worth. Your job is to collect as many points as possible before your time runs out!

This is the first race in a national winter series run by Open Adventure, who are renowned for their high calibre events. It has been organised in full consultation with the local ranger service and landowners. We are working with them to make sure you have a great time whilst minimising the impact of the race on other people using the hills.
