Lee Craigie won the final round of the National series to secure the overall title by over 2 minutes in a display of strength. This sets her up well for the World Championships in Austria on the 9th of September.

After a long season which started in South Africa in February Craigie has steadily grown in ability through the year with 2 top 40 world cup results and the now the National series win to her name! Lee has firmly established herself as a world class rider as we start the 2 year lead in period to the home games in Glasgow 2014.

In the Elite men’s race Gareth Montgomerie rode a fantastic race to establish himself as one of Britain’s top riders with an excellent 2nd place just 40 seconds behind Oli Beckingsale (commonwealth games silver medallist in 2006), Dave Henderson rounded out the top 10 in Elite men.

Not to be outdone by the elite riders the younger Scottish contingent all did their part to cement some excellent overall series results for Scottish riders. Isla short was first up in youth girls and had her work cut out when her main rival for the series started very quickly and got a 20 second lead on the first lap. Short who has just competed for Scotland at the European youth Champs did not panic and made her way back to the front and over took her on the last lap to take the win and the series overall. Tom Evans had a very similar effort to make in the junior boys race where he had to win the race to win the series. After a fast start he was away with one other rider and it came down to an exciting sprint for the win which Tom lead out to take his first national win of 2012 and also the series trophy.
