Where is the summer going? With Mountain Bike World Cups, British Championship wins, and plenty of opportunities to grow the sport we can hardly keep up.

Scottish Mountain Bikers have been across Europe bagging World Cup spots in the past few weeks.

In the Lenzerheide round in Switzerland at the weekend Grant Ferguson (CST American Eagle) bagged his 2nd Gold Coast qualification result with 34th in the Elite Men. Isla Short (OMX Pro Team) took a very respectable 12th place in the Under 23 Women.  Kerry MacPhee (Rock and Road) also made the trip out, gaining 62nd place in the Elite Women whereas Iain Paton (Leslie Bike Shop/ Bikers Boutique) took 66th in the Under 23 Men. Ella Conolly (100% ME) came in 43rd in the Under 23 Women.

The weekend prevous in Vallnord, Andorra was also successful for the group – with Isla Short taking a fantastic 8th place in the under 23 women. Ella Conolly was also high up, taking 18th place. Iain Paton was 34th in the Under 23 Men’s category. Grant Ferguson and Kerry MacPhee were placed 23rd and 59th in their respective Elite categories.

The Great Britain Cycling Team for the Junior and Under 23 Track European Championships was also announced last week with not one but six Scots included. Good luck to Joe Nally, Jenny Holl, Lewis Stewart, Alistair Fielding, Mark Stewart and Jack Carlin.

Scotland were also looking pretty strong at the Youth National Circuit Race Championships, with Pedal Power's Eva Young take the top podium spot in the Under 14 Girls category.  Alfie George (Discovery Juniors) took 2nd place in the Under 16 Boys, with Matti Dobbins (Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club) not far behind in 4th place.

The Masters National Track Championships took place at the end of last month with around 24 Scots making the journey to Newport, Wales to compete. You can find out the full results here.

Scottish Cycling are also advertising some new opportunities – if you would like to work in sport, then check out our job opportunities page for roles in coaching, management and finance.
