The Scottish Cycling National Championships for 2016 were unveiled on Tuesday night at North Inch Community Campus in Perth.
Event Organisers and club representatives got together, and over 100 others watched and listened online, as the Scottish Cycling events team talked through the 2016 events calendar which boasts over 330 planned competitive events.
18 of the events are Scottish National Championships and clubs applied to host a National Championship event in their region. Scottish Cycling development staff, including regional staff and performance coaches, reviewed the applications giving consideration to the dates provided by organisers, the quality of course, the event and the experience of the Event Organiser and club. Consideration was also given to the geographical spread of championship events around the country. Scottish Cycling’s recommendations were presented to both Event Commissions (Off Road and Road & Track) where they reviewed and agreed the 2016 Scottish National Championships. Following this process, Event Organisers were notified of their successful application to host a National Championship.
