Final Standings

With the curtain coming down on the series at the Stafford GP, it was going to be a tough battle for first place overall as either Hannah Barnes (MG-Maxifuel Pro Cycling) or Anne Ewing (Breast Cancer Care CC) could take it.

The pace at Stafford was high from the off with Matrix Fitness Racing Academy using their superior numbers to fire riders off the front, forcing Barnes into chasing while Anne Ewing sat in behind, marking every move. However it was Barnes who won both the intermediate sprints, narrowing her deficit to Ewing to a mere 5 points. While the peloton splintered under the relentless assault from the Matrix Fitness team, an elite group of a dozen formed at the front and in the end it was Hannah Barnes proving her status as National Circuit Race Champion by using her devastating sprint to win the race and with it the Series overall.

Louise Borthwick (Edinburgh RC) put in her strongest performance of the Series with a brilliant second place to move up into 5th overall - no mean feat given she's still a Junior so clearly a name to look out for in the future.

Anne Ewing, having held the top spot for so long, claimed 2nd overall with her Breast Cancer Care CC team-mate, Eileen Roe in 3rd.
