TT: Sutherland wins Loch Calder hilly

Near gale-force winds, rain and temperatures that had dropped to around five degrees failed to put off the riders in the Loch Calder hilly 23-mile time trial near Thurso in Scotland on Sunday.

The challenging course was mastered by Allan Sutherland of Caithness CC, who clocked 1-00-28 to take the victory ahead of Henry Blake, the Ross-shire Roads CC rider who had won the previous day’s 25-mile event.

Sutherland was just 12 seconds ahead of Blake, while Cairngorm CC rider Charles Fletcher completed the podium in third with 1-01-27.

Caithness CC’s Lorna Stanger was the fastest woman with 1-15-07, while Dave Harter of Forres CC was best veteran on standard and fifth overall.
