Event: 8 September 2013
Report: Snowdon Sports

Hannah Barnes (MG-Maxifuel Pro Cycling) took first place in the Coalville Women’s Team Race but couldn’t prevent Abergavenny Road Club from taking the series.

On the third lap, Barnes made a break, along with Emily Kay (Scott-Contessa Epic) and Elizabeth Malins (Abergavenny Road Club), leaving the rest of the field trailing behind.

About halfway through the race, Barnes, 20, pushed again but Malins and Kay soon responded, bridging across.

The trio then worked together till the end of the race and Barnes took the sprint by a bike length.

Hannah said after the race: “It was a difficult race, we worked well together after we got away. I started to cramp up near the end though, I have been training hard.

“It was a good course although I was told it was quite flat. It isn’t! It’s rolling and it was also very windy out there today.

“I fly to Ireland later in the week to take part in a tour, guesting for a new team so it will be fun to meet them and get to know them. I’m looking forward to it.”
