Jef Schils Memorial Road Race 2013
Event: 1 September 2013
Top riders and teams have just two National A races remaining this season. Both races are in the Eastern Region and they are filling up fast. The Jef Schils Memorial takes place on 1 September on a long loop near Colchester and there's an Ipswich-based event on 8 September.
Event organiser Natalie Schils has 65 entries so far and is looking to secure another top selection for the starting line-up of the 2013 Jef Schils Memorial: "We run our National A event like a kermesse in Belgium, with the sprints and finish on a village green with a country pub.
"This will be our third year remembering Jef Schils who was 1952 Belgian National Champion. Keeping the quality of race, its status and entry is important to complement our successful family-run Interbike business.
"The Best Western Marks Tey Hotel with its sports club is a great race HQ to host teams and riders for sign-on, changing and presentations. We roll out from there to the varied circuit that makes loops of 20km and 12km on lanes and roads around Layer Breton.
"There's a sprints competition every time through the line, and after 146km of racing we'll have our 2013 winner. The atmosphere and the competition is what makes a race special. With the course, the organisation, prizes, spectator party at the line and standard of racing we offer, everyone's a winner."
Last year's event was a complete lock-out for Node4 Giordana with IG Sigma Sport only just unable to get a hold on the many moves that made for great racing.
Teams and riders in Elite and 1st or 2nd Categories are invited to make an entry for the Jef Schils Memorial race on 1 Sept at the earliest possible opportunity. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for the latest information.
