Breaking clear from a leading group of eight riders with two laps to go, Tom Bustard (Herbalife-Leisure Lakes Bikes.com) rode away to a superb solo victory in Sheffrec CC’s 62-mile road race in South Yorkshire.

Riding strongly in the windy conditions, Bustard put 35 seconds into the rest by the line with Dean Downing (Madison Genesis) slipping away from the chasers in the closing stages to take second place ahead of Tom Murray (Metaltek-Knights of Old RT).

The eight leaders came together after five of the 18 laps and stayed away to leave Rob Carter (TS Racing) to lead in the rest for ninth place.

Result:

1 Tom Bustard (Herbalife-Leisure Lakes Bikes.com) 2:27:10
2 Dean Downing (Madison Genesis)
3 Tom Murray (Metaltek-Knights of Old RT)
4 Pete Williams (IG-Sigma Sport)
5 Matt Kipling (Velo29)
6 William Haynes (Blackhawk Bikes)
7 Ben Ives (Sportscover)
8 Matt Holmes (Raleigh)
9 Rob Carter (TS Racing)
