The Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome are planning a fundraising party on Thursday 21 March and thanks to Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky, there’ve secured their star auction item - a 2012 Tour de France road book signed by Tour winner Wiggins himself.

“These are only issued to people working or racing at the Tour - you can't buy one and we are not aware of any others signed by Bradley up for auction,” said a spokesperson for the Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome.

“It is a complete guide to the race, stage by stage, with all the information you could possibly wish for; maps, guides to the run-ins, elevations and profiles. It's a genuine piece of cycling history and the Friends of Herne Hill are delighted that Bradley has signed it for them.”

The road book is in first class condition and Sir Bradley has signed the front. All you have to do to get your hands on this piece of cycling history is come to the Friends of Herne Hill fundraising party on Thursday 21 March at The Ledger Building, 4 Hertsmere Rd, West India Quay, London. E14 4AL. Doors Open 6.30pm for Rollapalluza racing at 7.00pm.

British Cycling has played a significant part in the redevelopment of Herne Hill, successfully negotiating with the Dulwich Estate to secure the long term future of the Herne Hill Velodrome, the last surviving venue from the 1948 London Olympic Games.

British Cycling went on to provide funding and technical support for the resurfacing of the track in 2011, renovation work that is currently being augmented with a junior track, track-centre hard-standing and perimeter lighting thanks to funding from Southwark Olympic Legacy Fund.

However, the fundraising and ambition to further improve the iconic venue continues, so the Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome urge as many people as possible to turn up on Thursday 21 March at 6:30pm. Every penny from the auction goes to the campaign to build new facilities at Herne Hill.
