Starting his second season of road racing, Christophe Demoulin led a one-two for Peterborough CC in the 30-mile opening round of the Northants CRA Handicap Series at Naseby.

Demoulin, 27, and clubmate Oliver Laverack led home a 14-strong group after three laps of a Naseby-Welford-Sibbertoft circuit with third place going to Jordan MacSweeney (St Ives CC).

The leading trio all came from the fourth category riders who started six and a half minutes in front of a six-strong scratch group and two minutes behind the women’s group, who were caught at the end of the opening lap.

The leaders worked well together to stay out in front and at the finish they were over a minute clear of their closest challengers with Ryan Henry (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) the best of the scratch riders as he brought home the third group on the road, still 2-30 down.
