Opening a small gap on the final mile-long climb towards the finish, Andrew Stuart (Nottingham Clarion CC) took the honours in the Nottinghamshire round of the East Midlands Events Group series from a field of 63 riders.

Three and a half laps of the tough 13-mile Harby Circuit, in north Leicestershire, took its toll on the field in the warm conditions, but although several breaks formed in an aggressive race, the nature of the course and a concerted effort by the main bunch over the last lap meant that the remaining contenders were all together going into the decisive finale.

Chalking up his first road win of the season, 28-year-old Stuart came home a few bike lengths clear of second-placed Leon Wright (Naked Bikes), who in turn put daylight between himself and the group behind led in by Paul Cox (Team Pedal Power Loughborough).
