Dave Starkey (Fred Williams) pedalled to victory in the Steve Taylor Memorial Road Race held in Worcestershire on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Wolverhampton rider was ahead of competition from Jason Gurney of www.twenty3c.co.uk and Mark Corbett (Worcester St John’s CC) after toiling round 62 miles of road.

The race, organised annually by Gloucester City CC and held in memory of a promising young cyclist who passed away, takes in a tough uphill drag as it climbs to a finish.

The top six will compete for the Railsport 2012 National Championship.
