Northants CRA Late Spring Handicap Road Race Series
Location: Old, near Kettering
Event: 19 May 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

Veteran David Robinson came out on top in a sprint finish to the fifth and final round of the Northants CRA Late Spring Handicap Road Race Series to lead a clean sweep for Kettering CC, who took the overall team and individual honours.

Robinson, 45, edged out Michael Salter (Rockingham Forest Wheelers), the winner of the previous round, and Steve Coulam (Welland Valley CC) after three laps of the 10-mile Old circuit as once again the long and middlemarker groups came together and organised themselves well enough to hold the scratch riders at bay.

First-year junior Joel Lewis finished fourth to wrap up the overall title with Blair Adams in fifth place to complete Kettering CC’s scoring trio on the day and secure the team prize ahead of 45 Road Club.

Kev Hardwick (45 Road Club) finished second overall with Salter and Adams sharing third place.

The Association’s midweek Summer Series starts on Thursday, June 7 on the Middleton circuit.
