VC Elan youngster Josh Lawless secured a stylish victory in the eighth round of the South East League’s Summer Series, sprinting to victory at the end of the 66-mile race on roads around Rolvenden in Kent on Sunday.

The 21-year-old from Beley held off VO2 Development Squad rival Francis Cadle for the win, and had enough time to spare to raise a V for victory salute as he crossed the line.

Like most events, the SERRL event was staged on rain-lashed roads, but it did not stop the event providing some thrilling racing.

Behind Lawless and Cadle, third spot went to Dulwich Paragon’s Arjan Planting, while London Dynamo’s Peter Mahoney was just denied a spot on the podium.
