Northants CRA Late Spring Handicap Series
Location: Welford, Northamptonshire
Event: 21 April 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

There was a double celebration for Paul Robertson as victory in round two of the Northants CRA Handicap Late Spring series gave him his first road race win since 2007 as well as a maiden success for his new Spin-Rotor RT squad.

The 35-year-old Northampton rider, concentrating on the road this year after his first cyclo-cross winter and a number of mountain bike campaigns, proved fastest in a 25-up sprint after 48-km of racing to win from Joe Clarke (Fenland Clarion CC).

Robertson, who had ridden the Tour DoonHame before contesting last weekend’s Midlands Series cross-country MTB round, started in the scratch group with the rest of a four-strong Spin-Rotor team who worked hard to bring the race together over three laps of a Welford-based circuit on the borders of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Results:

1 Paul Robertson (Spin-Rotor RT) 1-20-53
2 Joe Clarke (Fenland Clarion CC)
3 Hans Van Nierop (Welland Valley CC)
4 Paul Londors (Spin-Rotor RT)
5 Duncan Thorp (Arbis LLP-Roy Pink)
6 James Stokes (Kettering CC)
7 Kev Hardwick (45 Road Club)
8 Sam Crabtree (Welland Valley CC)
9 Mike Smith (Welland Valley CC)
10 Nick Horder (Welland Valley CC) all same time
