Due to an overwhelming response from the elite cycling community organisers of the 2012 IG London Nocturne consulted with British Cycling and decided to reinstate the women’s race into this year’s event.

IG, the financial spread betting and CFD trading company, who will sponsor the event once again in 2012 have been supportive of adding this race to the current programme on 9 June, also showing their support are event co-founders Rapha have stepped in to sponsor the race which will now be named the ‘Rapha Women's Elite Criterium’.

“We are delighted by the response we have received from the elite cycling community and are incredibly pleased to have Rapha on board as race sponsor and look forward to a highly atmospheric and competitive race.”

The IG London Nocturne will now start at the earlier time of 4.30pm to create the most exciting race programme ever hosted at Smithfield Market.

The IG London Nocturne is not only for those on two wheels; hosting a whirl of entertainment on the circuit to create a mini cycling festival in the heart of the city. Local bars and restaurants around Smithfield Market become part of the event with food and drinks promotions fuelling the party. Spectators can also interact with the numerous displays and trade stands in the expo areas while watching the action on big screens.

Approximately 45,000 people have attended the Nocturne Series since its inception in 2007. The event is free for people to attend with full details at www.londonnocturne.com.
