Northants CRA Spring Handicap Series
Location: Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire
Event: 10 March 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

Welland Valley CC veteran Tim Smith soloed to victory in the 30-mile second round of the Northants CRA Spring Handicap Series at Husbands Bosworth.

A non-finisher in the opening round when strong crosswinds blew the race apart, 41-year-old Smith, from Broughton, near Northampton, made his escape as the leading groups on the road steadily came together and had over three minutes to spare at the line.

Matt Garfield (Fenland Clarion CC) led in a group of 34 sprinting for second place, with the scratch riders making no real impact and still over five minutes down after the three laps of the Sulby circuit and first-round winner Ben Wimpory (Loughborough Students CC) tailed off.
