After improving consistently over the last couple of rounds, Pete Wager (Felt Colbornes RT) won the third round of the Imperial Winter Series at the Hillingdon circuit in London on Saturday.
The Maidenhead-based 36-year-old finished tenth in the opening round a fortnight ago and was sixth in last week’s round two, but leaped to the top of the podium at a chilly round three.
Wager held off High Wycombe CC’s James Norris for the win, while third spot went to round one winner Jamie Pine, the London Dynamo rider from Twickenham.
Also getting better by the week is Kingston Wheelers’ Rob Sharland, the 24-year-old from Surbiton.
After winning the 4th cat race last week, he stepped up to the 3rd cat event this week – and promptly won that too.
He held off Krisztian Borbely (Cyclelab) for the win, while Dominic Clegg (Redhill CC) was third.
And in the 4th cat race Daniel Stevens (Neon-Digital.co.uk) won from Kingston Wheelers’ Mark Dempster.
