Road: Lyme Racing Club Lead Out ToB

Whilst The Tour of Britain may have concluded with Lars Boom taking the golden jersey, it will also live long in the memory for riders from Lyme Racing Club who lead out the Stoke-on-Trent stage - stage 3 - of the tour.

The proud youngsters, ranging from 4-15 years of age, were extremely excited in front of huge crowds in Trentham, with the following youngsters involved:

Izaak Curtis, age four years, is in his first year of cycling. He won a bronze medal at the Freewheelers Track Go-Race held at Newcastle velodrome and silver at the Grass Track Omnium.

Alex Webb, age 15, specializes in mountain bike and track racing. He has had a very successful year, and became Newcastle Track Endurance League Champion for 2011 last week and has been on the podium at national level in mountain bike events. Alex was selected to represent the West Midlands Mountain bike squad in the UK Schools Games.

Sam Pattison, age 12 who has been racing in the Freewheelers League at Newcastle velodrome, also enjoys road riding and mountain bike racing.

Paige Milward specializes in track and road events, has had many podium places this year. She was selected to represent the West Midlands MTB Squad in the UK Schools Games Paige has also raced in the Isle of Man and Belgium this year.

Sallie Birchall, age 14 is another all rounder but specialized in track racing at various velodromes. Sallie is the proud title holder of both the BSCA National and Regional Roller competitions. This year Sallie and team mate Paige have tied for top honour of Best Lady rider in the Youth League at Newcastle Track.

Ashley Williams, age 14, is in her first year of Youth racing at Newcastle Track, having been promoted from the Freewheelers League, she has also been representing her school Blythe Bridge High, in the British Schools Cycling Association events.

Megan Williams, age 10, holds the title BSCA National Time Trial Champion for 2011 after winning the three mile event at Darley Moor. She is the leading girl in the Freewheelers League and is certain to take the title for 2011. Megan also won medals at this year's Go-Ride races, representing her school.

Sophie Bassett, age 8, is in her second year of cycling and has represented her school Bursley Primary, at the BSCA Roller Competition, coming away with a bronze medal. Sophie also races in the Freewheelers League at Newcastle, and gained a silver medal in the grass track Go -Ride Omnium.
