Bradley Wiggins has climbed up to seventh from eighteenth in the latest UCI WorldTour Individual Rankings after his third place finish in the Vuelta with Chris Froome debuting in twenty-fifth, one place ahead of Mark Cavendish.

The Sky Procycling duo's efforts have helped Great Britain up to fifth, with Spain still top. The latest results all but confirm a top 10 finish in the qualifying period for next year's London Games, which means Great Britain would get the full quota of five riders for the Olympics, although this will be confirmed one week after the final race of the qualifying period, which is the Tour of Lombardie.

The nation rankings are calculated by adding the total of the top five scorers for each nation, in GB's case Ben Swift, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, David Millar and Mark Cavendish.

Froome and Wiggins helped Sky Procycling up to third in the team rankings. Speaking to the Sky Procycling site, Team Principal Dave Brailsford said: "It's huge for the team. Like any sports team, confidence and self-belief and a real genuine pride in what they are doing is absolutely essential to get consistent high performance.

"As the season's gone along this year the team has grown in self-belief, it's grown in confidence and now we've seen all of that come to fruition in a three-week race where the guys were put under pressure several times and responded really well. They didn't panic, they kept calm and had a real genuine belief in their own ability."
