Stokes Wins Dundee Wheelers RR

Meigle, Scotland, 42 miles
Event: 16th July 2011
Report: Snowdon Sports

JORDAN Stokes (Endura Pedal Power) took a stylish victory at the end of the Dundee Wheelers' Road Race on Saturday, sprinting home ahead of his rivals at the end of the 42-mile race on roads around Meigle.

Part of Endura Racing's development team, Stokes showed his potential when he flew up the hill at Aichindorie Farm to take the win after three laps of the circuit.

An alert bunch had marshaled any breaks well and the one or two escapees had a short-lived stint at the front of the race for third and fourth cat riders.

A stray dog wandering on to the circuit threatened to split the race, but although one rider crashed the field stayed together. And the bunch was also halted when they were warned to stay on the right side of the road on the second lap.

Stokes held off Lomond Roads rider Paul Gareze for the win, while junior Stuart McLuskey (Leslie Bikes) took third spot.

1 Jordan Stokes (Endura Pedal Power)

5 Johnathan Buckley (Squadra Porcini)
6 Barry Wilson (Dundee Thistle)
