Brighton Mitre Hove Park Circuit Races

17th July, Round 4; Thanks to Michael Leonard

With Felix English absent, it was all to play for in the deciding race in the series with his two main reveals Joshua Cunningham (Ingear Development Squad) and Roger Smith (Wildside 707 RT) on the start and equally with a chance to overhaul Felix for the overall. Furthermore, it was it was no surprise both Joshua and Roger were in the break that formed along with Philip Glowinski (VC Londres) and Drew Holmes (Ingear Development Squad) as a result of a sprint for a prime 10 minutes into the race.

Around the halfway point, the rain came down again making the course tricky which caught Steve Akinson out, crashing whist negotiating a sharp left-hand corner and shortly after, bad luck hit Roger Smith as he suffered a puncture ending his chances. All three of the remaining leader tried in vane to get away from each other and despite being out numbered two to one, it was Philip Glowinski who took first place with Joshua Cunningham  impeded by a back markerand finishing 2nd.

With another small Category 4 field it was again a good ranking points scoring opportunity. It wasn’t until the later stages of the race that the action commenced with both Tracy Harris (Brighton Mitre) and Andy Ralston (Perth CC) finally spitting the group after putting in a series of hard attacks. This resulted in the two detaching themselves and fighting out the victory between themselves with Tracy pipping Andy for the win.

So congratulations go to Felix English for being the worthy winner of the first Brighton Mitre Hove Park Series and bravo to all the riders who took part in the series, making for great exciting racing.
