FORMER national hill climb champion James Dobbin (Adeo Cadence RT) mastered a hilly four-lap course to win Somer Valley CC's Colin Carfield Road Race in Somerset on Sunday, sprinting home ahead of Danny Axford (Arctic Premier RT) and Luke Dunbar (Team Qoroz) on the finishing climb.

An animated race saw the bunch split and regroup continually over the climbs at Barrington, Blaydon Hill and West Harptree until the fielkd split into two distinct groups at the 40-mile mark with the gap between the two stretching out to a minute.

The leaders hit the foot of the finishing climb together, but Dobbin held the ace card and powered across the line a bike length clear.
