Nominations for the Unsung Hero category at the BBC's annual Sports Personality of the Year awards have opened.

Do you know someone who goes the extra mile to help out in local cycling events or clubs? With several cyclists in the running for the headline award, wouldn't it be great to see a volunteer, coach or club member from within cycling pick up this award?

Nominations for the Unsung Hero category come entirely from members of the public, with regional winners being chosen by judging panels throughout the UK in late November.

All 15 winners from the nations and regions then go forward to final judging for the overall BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award, announced live during the BBC Sports Personality of the Year programme on BBC One in late December.
