Three new coastal Cornish cycle tours for 2010

Cornwall's spectacular coastline is the focus for three new self-guided cycling tours from a specialist holiday operator.

Cornish Cycle Tours has created two new routes for 2010: the seven day South Coast Tour visits many of Cornwall's famous landmarks; while two versions of the Coast to Coast Tour link the tranquil south coast and spectacular surfing beaches of the North Cornish coast in a circular route.

The three new tours bring the total available to ten, ranging from two to seven days cycling in duration. All tours include daily luggage transfers and B&B accommodation in quality inns and guesthouses.

Lan Rowe of Cornish Cycle Tours said: "Our new tours are all aimed at the recreational cyclist who wants to experience the fantastic scenery, food and attractions that Cornwall has to offer.

"Both of the new seven day tours cover less than 20 miles a day on average, so there's plenty of time to stop wherever you like - whether it's sampling the award-winning wine at Camel Valley Vineyard or cooling off with a quick swim at one of the many stunning beaches along the route."

Starting from the North Cornish market town of Wadebridge, the seven day/six night South Coast Tour follows quiet country lanes and dedicated cycle trails on a carefully-planned route, which hugs the coast from Charlestown to St Just in the county's far west.

The 106 mile tour calls in at some of Cornwall's best-loved landmarks, including the Eden Project, Caerhays Castle and gardens, St Michael's Mount, Porthcurno's Minack Theatre and Land's End.

The South Coast Tour costs £525 per person including six nights B&B accommodation and luggage transfers.

Two versions of the 91 mile Coast to Coast Tour are available, lasting five days/four nights or seven days/six nights.

The route is identical for both versions of the tour: leaving Wadebridge along the Camel Trail to Bodmin and then on to the south coast at Charlestown, from where cyclists follow quiet country lanes.

After an overnight stop in Truro, the tour continues using the National Cycle Route network to the north coast near Newquay, diverting inland to the ancient village of St Columb, then rejoining the coast at Constantine Bay near Padstow.

The Coast to Coast Tour can by cycled over seven days/six nights (£525 per person) or five days/four nights (£375 per person).

Lan Rowe said: "Cornwall has so much to offer and a bicycle is one of the best ways to see the county. Our routes have been meticulously planned and researched, and we offer a full support service so all our guests have to do is pedal."

Included in all tours are detailed maps showing the route for each day's cycling, together with information about the notable sights and attractions along the route. There are also recommendations for lunch each day, whether it's an unspoilt country pub or the best pasty shop in the area.

Guests receive a comprehensive briefing before they set off, and Cornish Cycle Tours can also arrange cycle hire, and transfers to and from airports and railway stations in Cornwall.

The company's website, www.cornishcycletours.co.uk, features detailed itineraries for all ten tours together with a large amount of background information, frequently asked questions, pricing, and booking information.
