Cycling through COVID-19: Advice & Guidance

During this current climate many people and families may be falling in love with their bikes again or riding for the first time. Whether that’s our key workers using bicycles to get to work or whether it’s a family enjoying their daily exercise with a bike ride.

There may also be some families who are looking for some bike-themed activities to help keep the kids entertained whilst the children are off school.

Here at Welsh Cycling we want to help those who are using their bikes during these unprecedented times, so we have pulled together some useful information from those who are riding for the first time, to those with families and also those who have riding for a while.

Advice for first time riders – If you are getting on the bike for the first time, we have pulled together some useful information for you.

Commuting during COVID-19 – Key workers across Wales are turning to their bicycles to get to work, British Cycling have a dedicated commuters section.

Ready Set Ride and family activities – Keeping the kids entertained and active during these difficult times can be hard, but there are some good resources available out there.

Zwift social rides – A lot of our clubs are using Zwift to set-up virtual social club runs at the weekend, we’ve pulled together a handy guide of how you can get involved with Zwift.[Link here]

Medical advice from Sport Wales and the UCI – Sport Wales and UCI medical teams have put out some important medical advice around riding during COVID-19 – we’ve pulled the most applicable points.

#RideResponsibly – It’s imperative that while government guidelines allow one exercise a day, that we ride responsibly.
