Today marks #ShwmaeSumae day, a day in which we celebrate and promote the Welsh Language. We are using the opportunity to highlight how you can integrate some simple cycling terminology into your everyday conversations about everyone’s favourite topic, a bike.

“With so many of our coaches working with young people it makes sense that we help coaches to communicate in a language that is familiar with them, such as Welsh. Which is why we have developed this simple resource for everyone to use to help celebrate the welsh language and integrate it into our clubs further.

We are also busy creating a set of cycling specific flashcards for coaches and ride leaders that can be used in activities to further embed use of the Welsh Language into the grass roots of cycling to ensure we are as welcoming and inclusive as possible to people interested in taking part in cycling,” said Dan Coast, Welsh Cycling Development Officer.

Welsh Cycling are passionate about telling the people of Wales just how wonderful cycling is and in order to do this are helping to create more resources for our coaches, groups, clubs and members to use the welsh language more.
