With the World Championships about to get underway in Yorkshire next week Welsh Cycling HSBC UK Go-Ride clubs are coming together to celebrate the UCI World Championships returning to the UK for the first time since 1982.

Our Network of West Wales Go-Ride clubs will be coming together this Saturday in Pembrey for a full day of coaching and racing for young cyclists.

The action gets underway at 9:15am in the park with some Cyclo Cross coaching and racing along with a Q&A session hosted by a current member of the British Cyclo Cross team.

After a break for lunch, riders will move onto the closed road circuit for some road coaching and racing to develop skills that will be on show during the World Championships next week. The day was pulled together by local development officer Aled Jones.

“The areas Go-Ride clubs decided it made sense to come together for the day to bring along the clubs riders as well as catering for other new young riders to come and give the sport a go.

It promises to be a great day for young riders especially as we will have two professional riders who have ridden previous World Championships attending the day, though were not allowed to say who at this point. You’ll have to come on down to see for yourself who they are.”

The action continues on Monday Bike Doctor will be holding their own evening of coach led racing at their site in Barry Siddings, Pontpridd.

The club who got involved with Welsh Cycling’s Summer #GoRideTour series centred around the Tour de France are looking forward to another focused day of action for the clubs young riders and welcoming the World Championships back to the UK.
