Ben Nott and Eilish Gilbert claimed victory in the elite men and women's race respectively as the Mountain Bike Welsh Champs took over Pembrey Country Park.

Conditions looked good early on at Pembrey, with a good turn out for the Welsh Mountain Bike Championships 2019. Fans were flying the Welsh flag, and photographers were ready waiting at the bottom of the steep descents and on the edge of the tight turns. The course was made even more exciting when the rain came at midday, and made already difficult skills sections even harder.

Across the day, action ensued across multiple age categories as riders did battle against a tough techincal course. There were stand out performances across the board but the youth and juvenile categories produced some superb racing with Huw Buck Jones (Marsh Tracks Racing) taking victory in the youth boys race. Meanwhile in the juvenile girls category it was Freya Evans (The Bulls) who pipped Anwen Nesham to the Welsh Jersey.

When time came for the elite women and the elite men's race the weather started to turn which once again provided some spectacular racing. For the elite women's it was Gilbert who got the better of Ruby Miller (Hope Factory Racing) after a close battle. For Nott it was the perfect Sunday as he became the 2019 Welsh Champ whilst celebrating his first year wedding anniversary.
